10 Ways to EASILY Reduce Your Daily Calorie Intake for Cutting Weight

Alright, so you’ve looked at the scale and you don’t like what you see. You know you have to make a change but you don’t think you can stick to a crash diet. (rightfully so) So what are you to do? Well we’re going to talk about 10 ways you can cut those calories without having to completely change everything! Lets get started…

  1. Cut your meals in half: This is a technique I use quite often when I cut. What this ends up doing is making so that one meal becomes two! This makes it so that I can continue to have my 3 or 4 meals while keeping the same amount of calories. You can do this with any meal weather its made at home or you go out to eat.

  2. Drink more water: Drinking more water makes it so that you fill your stomach to make less room for more food to hang around. It’s a great way to make yourself full quicker leading to less eating. And a bonus benefit is that it makes the digestion of your food easier!

  3. Substitute sugary snacks with low/no calorie options: We all love our snacks, there’s no denying that. For instance, my guilty pleasure is chips, and left to my own devices, I will smash bag after bag. When I’m on a cut however, I would switch to lower calorie options like popcorn, specifically Smart Food White Cheddar popcorn…have you seen the calories in a serving? It’s only 70 for a small bag!

  4. Eat more protein: Protein not only fills you up faster than other macronutrients but it also has a greater thermogenic effect! Meaning that it takes more calories to digest proteins than carbohydrates or fats.

  5. Larger breakfast/smaller dinner: Now this piece of advice becomes apparent in the name of the first meal. BREAKFAST is called that because of the many hours you go without eating (Fasting) because of sleep or whatever else. Having a larger breakfast means you have more energy for the day, and having a smaller dinner will help you to one, not over eat but also to not to have indigestion!

  6. Avoid the “ands”: If you’re going to eat out and lets face it, that’s likely from time to time, no judgement…avoid the temptation to add in the “ands” e.g. “I’ll have the number 2 with a coke AND an extra order of curly fries” the amount of calories in those meals are already enough for half the day and it’s easy to add another 200-500 extra calories on top of that…avoid the “ands”

  7. Drink black coffee: Black coffee has been shown to be not only a stimulant but also a hunger suppressant! Of course don’t go overboard with it but one coffee a day could save you a bunch of excess calories in the long run…and it’ll only run you around 15 calories. (the extra creams and sugars is what makes coffee a nightmare when it comes to calories so beware)

  8. Don’t drink your calories: This piece of advice goes along with choosing the low/no calorie options from before. A lot of people forget that drinks have calories and it’s SOOO EASY to overdo it with the juices and sodas. For example, going out to eat and getting that coke or juice or whatever by itself will run you an extra 250 calories in your meal and that compounds for every refill you get! It’s not a bad thing to have every once in a while but if your goal is weight loss, choose diet, sugar free or water.

  9. Use smaller plates: Using smaller plates is a great way to control portion size. It’s very easy to want to fill your plate, especially a big one. This enables you to still do that but at the same time eat less.

  10. Fill your plate with more vegetables: Vegetables are nutrient dense foods that when prepared correctly taste amazing. The best part about it is that you’ll find it incredibly difficult to over eat vegetables even if you eat them till you’re full. Having said that, putting more on your plate, especially if you followed the advice just above will help you to shave off that calorie intake by quite a bit.

    Long Story Short…

Weight loss can be difficult for many people, but if you incorporate some of these tips, you’ll start to notice some changes on the scale. It’s almost 2023 so lets get out there and reach these goals!
